Frequently Asked Questions On Modular Buildings

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need planning permission for temporary buildings?

Yes, all modular buildings require planning permission. Planning requirements state that regardless of size, any building or structure in place over 28 days has to have planning approval. However, this isn’t a problem as we can submit and manage your planning application on your behalf. You can find out more about Planning Permission here.

Do Modular buildings need to comply with Building Regulations?

Yes, Modular Buildings do need to meet all current Building Regulations, including Part L2. All our buildings are made in accordance with current UK Building Regulations. You can find out more about Building Regulations here.

What kind of foundations do the modular buildings require?

The foundations for your building will vary depending on local ground conditions but, as a minimum, foundations would be 600 x 600 x 600mm depth. Temporary structures are often placed on masonry block piers.

How quickly could I have a modular building finished and ready for use on site?

We have delivered and finished modular building projects in as little as six weeks from date of order. The onsite construction phase can be completed in a matter of just a few days. Watch our video on a recent installation for more details.

What is the benefit of recycling existing modular frames for my modular building project?

Sustainability is at the heart of our business, and we aim to reuse and recycle wherever we can so refurbishing pre-owned building stock is one way we can deliver on our sustainability pledge. On a practical level, there are also benefits for you in terms of cost savings and rapid delivery times as we always hold a stock of high quality pre-owned modular buildings ready for immediate delivery or refurbishment.

How are Modular buildings delivered and installed?

Modular Buildings are delivered to site by either rigid or articulated HGV. The mobile crane then offloads them onto the pre-built foundations. So it’s essential we carry out an initial site survey to check access.

Is the modular building solution sustainable?

Modular buildings are inherently sustainable, and they are portable and therefore can be recycled and refitted time and time again, Nearly 87% of the construction process takes place off-site, minimising waste and use of new resources.

What level of maintenance do these modular buildings require?

Modular buildings are designed to be low maintenance. Minimal maintenance will be required, predominately because of the high-quality fixtures and fittings we use for our structures. All materials used are covered by individual manufacturer’s warranties.

Do we have to connect the necessary utilities ourselves?

You’re very welcome to do this if you have the knowledge, expertise and capacity in-house. However, we can offer a complete turnkey package and manage these service connections for you.

In the corporate sector, modular buildings are used as offices, meeting facilities, sales & marketing suites & retail shops.
